This Fafnir Forge 8th – 9th Century Viking Sword has a forged and tempered blade of 1074 high carbon steel; it is mounted into a hilt with a steel guard and pommel and its thickened tang is robustly peened over the pommel for a durable construction. The wooden grip is bound in brown-dyed leather and the sword is matched with a wooden scabbard which is tightly wrapped in leather. A protective steel chape and a carved wooden suspension loop with leather band binding completes the scabbard and allows it to be suspended and worn from your own belt or baldric.

This Viking sword is based on a historical examples dating from about 750 – 820 AD with 22 or more examples found in Norway and at least another example found in the Netherlands. Of these 22 Norwegian examples with a Petersen Type B hilt are 14 double-edged swords whilst the remaining 8 are single-edged blades.

This replica of a dual-edged Petersen Type B Viking sword has a stout, fullered blade which is capable of delivering deep cuts and hacks with broad, shearing strikes. With a weight of less than 3 lbs and a point of balance of about 4.5 forward of the guard this Viking sword strikes a fine balance between responsiveness, agility and cutting power.

Awesome sword Just received my Fafnir Forge Viking sword and right out of the box i was impressed!! I can’t believe this beauty is just $200!! I own Del Tin, Albions, Windlass, Kris Cutlery, Hanwei…etc. and this is on par with the most expensive blades. Handles beautiful!!! Thanks KoA for another winner…now if only they could oroduce a Long Sax to pair it off.
