The Battlecry! Culloden Scottish Basket Hilt Sword has a sharpened blade forged from 1065 high carbon steel which was tempered to an low-50ís HRC and as part of the Windlass Battlecry! Line it was forged with an enlarged tang for increased durability and an overall antiqued and battle-worn blued finish.

The elaborate basket guard with intricate cut-out design is of steel and the wooden grip is wrapped in genuine, blackened rayskin and inlaid with silver wire. The basket line is black wool with hidden wire edging to retain its form.

The sword is paired with a leather scabbard with a durable leather scabbard with a steel chape and locket with a darkened finish to match the sword. Included is a separate frog of thick leather with two swiveling belt loops which allow the sword to hang at a comfortable angle. Included with the sword is a Certificate of Authenticity which has been signed by the smith who crafted your sword.

A strong-striking cut-and-thrust sword, the encompassing basket of these Scottish swords provide some of the most comprehensive hand protection available in a sword. For Scottish clansmen this protection was excellent for warding off stray bayonet thrusts or greatly reducing the viability of hand strikes and the stout cage could certainly be used to rattle the jaw of a foe at close range. In the hands of a strong-armed clansman a sword such as this could do grievous cutting and hacking damage and their presence at the forefront of the Highland Charge was a sight that caused many foes to simply flee rather than chance their bayonets against sword, targe and Highland fury.
