Made by the Dwarf brothers Brokkr and Eitri, the legendary hammer Mjolnir would be forged in the midst of a contest between the brothers and the Dwarf smiths of Ivaldi. Loki had bet his head that Brokkr and Eitri would lose the contest, and Loki attempted to put the odds in his favor by disguising himself as a large, biting fly to upset the work and concentration of the smithing brothers. He succeeded in only causing a momentary lapse of concentration, causing Mjolnir to come from the forge with a handle shorter than intended. Thus it could only be wielded by a single hand.

Loki lost his bet, but did not lose his head, claiming that to have his head they would have to cut his neck - and his neck was not included in the bet. Brokkr, instead sewed Lokiís mouth shut to punish his trickery.

This imagining of one of mythologyís most famous weapons is made in the style of the Thorís Hammers depicted on Viking standing stones and pendants. The head is made of solid metal and has been antiqued for an ancient appearance. The wood shaft has been stained and fitted with studs. The grip of wood has been wrapped with suede leather. Several brass rivets are used to affix the head, pommel and guard to the shaft. Comes with a mounting plaque with Viking motifs and mounting hardware.
