A sword of truly royal quality. The Arms & Armor St Maurice Sword replicates the coronation sword of the Holy Roman Emperor, used from the 10th century to 1918. The original is one of the best surviving swords of this type. This sword was made for its royal duties and has been preserved in a nearly pristine state for its entire life. The engraving was added, a common practice, for the coronation of Otto IV in 1198. It consists of the arms of the empire on the pommel and the inscriptions Christus Vincit, Christus Reinat, Christus Imperat, a common war cry of the Third Crusade, on the guard. The sharpened high carbon steel blade has a fuller which runs nearly its full length. The guard and pommel are solid steel and the grip is hardwood bound in twisted wire.

St.Maurice Received mine directly from A&A, super nice blade, satin finish is excellent. I’d like it better if it came sharp… wire wrap looks good , but was somewhat loose. The casting of the pommel and guard was finely done. Than comes the fit between blade and guard. … sloppy ! A poorly fitted blade makes the best of swords look like cheep junk….A&A makes such a nice blade, they need to slow down and make more efforts on the components.. I own bout 10 swords from them mostly rapiers, I know there quite capable of excellence, but I have a couple of disappointments too….id like to get the Writhen raipier next , but im getting a little gun shy.
