Help

This stage-combat version of the Sir Marshall Knight Sword is stoutly constructed for sport and stage combat. The blunt blade is crafted from EN45 high carbon steel and the pommel and guard are of mild steel. The blade tang is solidly peened to the pommel. The wooden grip is finished with a wrap of brown leather.

The sword is paired with a wood-core scabbard encased in tightly-fitted brown leather and finished with a pair of brass hanging rings.

This arming sword is named after one of history’s most famous knights - Sir William Marshall. Originally a second son to a lesser knight, Sir Marshall made his mark and fortune by routinely winning at tournaments throughout Europe. He would later serve the Royal household as an advisor to such figures as Richard the Lionheart, King John (who brushed off Sir Marshall’s advice to not treat the Barony so harshly) and served as tutor and regent to the young Henry III before he came of age.

For loyal service to the Crown, Sir Marshall was made 1st Earl of Pembroke and given extensive landholdings and a mighty castle in Western Wales. His castle in Pembroke has one of the largest and tallest castle keeps in Britain.

In his later years Sir Marshall was inducted into the Knight’s Templar, which allowed him to be interred into the Temple Church in London after he passed away.
