This sword is inspired by the beautiful long swords favored in areas of Germanic influence during the mid to late 15th century. It has a long hollow ground blade with edges that arc gracefully to an acute point. The raised midrib gives this blade a good stiffness for its weight while the keen edges are crisp and well defined. The blade combines efficient cutting width at the center of percussion with a strong awl-shaped point. The hollow ground blade reduces the weight to make it quick and responsive, and the thick center-ridge blade spine makes it stiff and excellent for thrusting. The grip is hexagonal and has the typical waisted profile.

The Earl has a hand ground high carbon steel blade is tempered for flexibility and edge retention. The crossguard and pommel are cast from mild steel. The grip is stabilized birch wood, cord-wrapped and fitted over with tight leather.

The sword grip comes in a selection of colors, please select an option below.

Really, this is an eight star sword Totally biased regards this magnificent hollow ground bastard sword. It’s elegant style masks a very substantial weapon. Sword has a wonderful neutral feel that makes one handed use appear comfortable, although this is a healthy two hander.

      Highly recommended.

Deserves 5 stars I very rarely give 5 stars for any sword as i am very picky, but this one deserves it.

The fit and finish was pretty much perfect and i can’t find anything worth complaining about.

The handling was a little more blade heavy than i expected as i am used to a ringeck model, but is in no way bad. The handling is what id describe as authoritative and bold, and makes me think of decisive single tempo counters as described in the liechtenauer tradition.

The sword cuts very well on tatami, ringing beautifully with each cut. The edge came very nicely done and only needed some light honing and stropping to shave hair.

The pommel might look uncomfortable with the spiky bits but honestly i forgot about them during my cutting test and didnt even feel the protrusions as i hold the neck of the pommel and not the entire thing. The curved quillons don’t hook your wrist or anything in moulinet style motions.

Note that the leather darkens super easily with exposure to sweat and oil so you might wanna get a lighter colour than what you want.

Would highly recommend overall. Essentially ‘perfect’, and i don’t use that word lightly
