This short-hafted Double-Edged Axe has a forged head of high carbon steel. Most of the axe blade has been left unpolished to keep its handcrafted character. the axe head has been sturdily dual-riveted to a stained wooden haft. The axe blades are unsharpened.

The Minoan word for a double headed axe was ‘’labrys’’; thus the word ‘’Labyrinth’’ meant ‘’House of the Double-Axe’’ - the Labyrinth Palace of King Minos of Knossos. In the ruins of the palace there has been found a mural in which is depicted a woman bearing two double-edged axes. For the Minoans the double-headed axe was likely a tool of sacrifice.

Historically, most double-edged axes have not been axes for war, but they have been tools for chopping and working with lumber.
