Help

Forged by Balaur Arms, this Type XIIa longsword fits in well with swords throughout 14th century Europe and the origin of its blade design hearkens to the 13th century when increasingly tapered swords were developed to improve their thrusting ability. A classic Medieval design with a lenticular cross-section to its blade, these swords had long fullers to reduce unnecessary weight from the mid section with minimal loss to overall durability.

The blade is crafted from EN45 high carbon steel to possess a spring temper and a 50 - 52 HRc hardness. The hilt is steel and the blade is mounted and secured into the hilt with a stout peen on the pommel. The tang is quadrangular in shape to better resist shifting or loosening against the grip. The grip is fashioned from seasoned teak wood and bound in quality leather.

The companion scabbard of seasoned teak wood is overlaid in leather, capped with a steel chape and finally finished with an integrated leather sword belt which can be adjusted to fit with a metal buckle. The placement of the belt on this scabbard is intended to facilitate its use by a right-handed swordsman by allowing it to be worn on the left hip.
