This Kabutowari is recreated from an original from the collection of Steven Seagal. This unusual weapon was a samurai sidearm purpose-built for parrying an opponent’s weapon or even using the hook to entrap it. The weapon is very thick-spined and heavily built and able to deflect and absorb many heavy blows from larger weapons. No mere defensive tool, the Kabutowari tapers to a thin, pick-like spike well-capable of being thrust into the openings in an armor or even penetrating the weaker parts of an armor. The name of the weapon is derived from its purported ability to pierce and rend helmets. The Cold Steel Steven Seagal Helmet Breaker has a blade of 1090 high carbon steel. The tsuba is iron and the grip is lacquered wood. The scabbard is of matching lacquered wood and is finished with a black silk sageo cord. |
