This Filipino Bolo Sword was made by Cold Steel in commemoration to the Filipino soldiers who fought for the United States of America in WWII and the Korean War. For every purchase of this sword Cold Steel will be donating 10% of the profit to the Filipino Veterans Recognition and Education Project for the express purpose of purchasing replica Congressional Gold Medals to award to the 17,000 surviving Filipino Veterans of these wars.

This Filipino Talibong sword for this memorial project was inspired by one in the private collection of Guru Dan Inosanto. It is a tried and true design that has crossed blades with the likes the Kris, Kampilan and even the Katana. Swords such as this were often bore into war by the Filipono servicemen who tenaciously fought alongside United States forces. The blade with its elongated tip is a vicious cutting and slicing weapon and notable distal taper ensures that it remains swift striking and quick in the hand.

The sharpened blade is 1055 high carbon steel and the guard disc and bolster are crafted from brass. The finely detailed hilt is skillfully crafted from Rosewood and is embellished with brass studding and accents.

Included with the sword is a sturdy leather scabbard with nickel fittings; embossed on one side it bears a seal with the crossed flags of the Philippines and the United States along with this inscription: In Honor of Filipino Veterans.

I bought it, I own it and I love it. Made from the private collection of Guro Dan Inosanto, this Talibong has great weight and balance. The most important thing you will need to know about this sword is do not store it in the sheath. The leather can cause the sheath to sweat and can cause rust spots on the sword, so its best to display it and give it proper maintenance when needed. If spot rusting occurs, a simple sanding will keep that blade pristine.

As with all weapons, handle with care because this is absolutely sharp and it not a wall hanger or toy.
