Cold Steels Quick-Draw sword cane features a shortened and lightweight spike-like blade that can be drawn and ready for defensive action more quickly than a longer sword cane blade. A firm tug on the pistol grip handle disengages the integrated friction seal, allowing for the blade to be withdrawn. When those fractions of a second count, being able to deploy your defensive tool all the more quickly can make all the difference.

Though the blade is shorter than a full-length sword cane, it still has more length than most knives and concealable melee weapons to ensure that you still retain the advantage of reach. The spiked, awl-like blade is an intimidating and highly efficient piercing weapon which will easily puncture even very thick clothing. Wounds caused by such a blade may not be as visually impressive as long and relatively shallow cuts, but a deeper piercing wound is often more internally damaging and even the convincing threat of one should give great concern to any would-be aggressor. When drawn for defense, a capable and clever sword-cane user retains the very durable shaft as an off-hand parrying tool and bludgeon.

The blade of this sword cane is 420J2 stainless steel and it is securely fitted with a Griv-Ex pistol grip handle. The cane shaft is black anodized aluminum and is topped with a tip as a practical traction aid.

Bought one of these a few years ago and it is holding up well. The “blade” is still solid and shows no deterioration from my carrying it often over the years and is just as solid a fit as the day I bought it. The $45 price is exceptionally reasonable and I would definitely reccommend it as a back up weapon, especially as the shaft of the cane makes a very handy and servicable parry or off hand bludgeoning tool. Even though I have not actually had to use it as a defensive tool, there has been quite a few times that I felt very good about having it handy while being in or having to do business in a ” Gun free zone”.
