The spear by Cold Steel has a 19th Century lance-style armor-piercing spearpoint. The head is crafted from 1055 high carbon steel and has a sharpened edge that is moderately sharp. The shaft is of stained ash wood. The spear ships unassembled - a pair of included wood screws securely affix the spearhead to the shaft.

This lance had a head in a style patterned after the British Cavalry 1868 lance head. The rigid triangular design is clearly intended to penetrate with ease. Lances such as this were in use throughout Britainís Victorian colonial conflicts and were typically mounted on poles of ash or bamboo. British lancers used them to notable effect as late as the 1898 Battle of Omdurman during Britainís war against the Sudanase Mahdi Dervishes. The 21st Lancers were immortalized in British military history for executing a classic cavalry charge with lances at Omdurman. Among the lancers in the charge was the young Winston Churchill.

Please Note: Our photos show an approximation of the completed weapon - we did not screw the head to the pole, this is why the screws are not present in the photos
