This Damascus Bowie Knife not only has a blade of Damascus steel, but the large S-Guard and pommel cap are likewise crafted of Damascus steel. The grip is of Rosewood surmounted by a ferrule of green Pakkawood with brass spacers. It is accompanied by a tanned leather sheath with stitched construction with an integrated belt loop and dual retaining straps held in place with brass buttons.

Part tool, part weapon, the Bowie Knife was the essential companion to the American frontiersman. It was large enough to do the job, yet compact enough so that it could be carried with the frontiersman in all his actions. Some Bowie Knives though border on being short swords and this one is clearly an example of such. Not only does it have a large blade, but it has a substantial grip to protect the hand and to aid in entrapping the blade of a foe. Clearly a blade meant for fighting and self-defense in a rough wilderness.

The eye-catching ripple-like patterns on Damascus steel is created by the mixing of two different steels when the blade is forged. This is done to mix the properties of a softer and harder steel together into a single blade. The two steels are clearly identifiable on the blade and manifest in brilliant patterns of layered steel in forms akin to burl wood grain or rippling water.

Francis Allen My sister bought me that knife for my birthday the knife looked much better when I got it and they said it was moderately sharp mine was raser sharp and the folding in the damascus steel was perfectly done

    2. David

Amazing Everything about it was perfect, and did almost all tasks with ease, not damaging the edge whatsoever

    3. AJ

Lots of fun for cutting practice Nicely balanced for percussive chopping motions, and a really great thrusting point. the blade feels solid enough to pry something open, but lively in the hand regardless. Didn’t come with an amazingly sharp edge, but easily fixed with a little whetstone sharpening. Easily cuts through small targets with little effort, so it’s a lot of fun for cutting practice.
