This dagger is a smaller version of the Cinquedea sword. A distinctly Italian trend, the Cinquedea was popular in Northern Italy in the 15th and 16th centuries. Its name literally means ‘’five-fingers’’ - a reference to the breadth of the blade on the swords. Its design may have been inspired as a then contemporary take on the arms of ancient Rome, as all things Classical came into vogue in the opening years of the Italian Renaissance.

Crafted by Del Tin of Italy, this Cinquedea has an unsharpened blade ground from Chrome-Vanadium steel that has been tempered to a Rockwell Hardness of 50. The blade is peened to the pommel. The hilt fittings are made from antiqued steel and the grip of wood.
