The scabbard has a hard core crafted of of carved pinewood and traditional Nepalese ‘’Laha’’ glue. It has been covered with black leather and adorned with brass plating and copper Nepalese coins. The scabbard has an integrated belt loop.

While some historians hypothesize that the origin of the Khukuri lies in the Greek Kopis (or Machaira) which may have been taken into South Asia by the Phalangites of Alexander the Great. Others however, contend that it was the other way around, and the the Khukuri inspired the Kopis. Others say that there is no connection between the two at all. Whatever the truth, it cannot be denied that forward sloping, broad blades and swords like the Kopis and the Kukri make outstanding chopping weapons. Some Hellenistic bronze helmets show grievous splitting damage - likely caused by a forward sloping blade like the Kopis. It was a feared blade design then in antiquity, just as today the Kukri is feared by those who face such a blade, like the Argentines in the Falklands War.
