Although little evidence exists for symmetrical double-headed axes in the medieval era, this does not stop the weapon from being a favorite of fantasy villains and Viking heroes. However, double-headed axes were used by the Ancient Greek and Minoan civilizations. Called a ‘’labrys’’ some examples have been found to be outlandishly tall, and were probably used to sacrifice large animals like bulls.

This axe, made by Fabri Armorum, is hand-made in the Czech Republic. It is made from blunted steel. The top of the handle has a wooden wedge driven into it to tighten the fit, and the axe is held in place with rivets. It has good harmonics and the head rings with a bell-like tone for several seconds even after light contact. The weapon is guaranteed for two years by the manufacturer under normal stage/sport combat conditions
