The Kris Cutlery Korean Sword V has a differentially-hardened, single edged blade of sharpened 1060 high carbon steel; the blade is differentially-hardened to imbue it with a hardened edge and a shock-resistant body and spine. The hamon line from this tempering process which denotes these differing steel hardnesses is visible along the edge of the blade.

The disc guard and the hilt fittings are black-coated iron. The wooden grip is finished with a coat of textured black lacquer and the blade collar and seppa-like washers are crafted from brass.The sword is paired with a wooden scabbard that is finished in glossy black lacquer.

Before the ascendency of the Japanese Katana, swords such as this Korean sword were being created on the Asian mainland. Japanese demand for these quality swords from the mainland caused some of these Korean and Chinese smiths to emigrate to Japan with some being sponsored guests. From them the Japanese would learn how to make superior blades, and in time they would refine what they learned into the creation of the Tachi and Katana swords.
