The seax was almost universally carried by Viking and Anglo Saxon men in a horizontal sheath at the front of his belt. It was a useful tool, as well as a bladed fighting weapon. They were simpler to create than longer swords and some warriors even preferred their seax to the sword. The Seax could vary in length from a dagger to a short sword. While swords were restricted by cost and availability to being a weapon of the wealthy, the seax was in use by all classes. Thus many seax were crudely constructed with characteristically thicker blades, though some seax show craftsmanship the equal of masterly crafted swords with pattern welded blades. The spine on many seax belie its use as a tool, as it allows the user to lightly pound the spine with a mallet to drive the blade through a material like rope for a finer cut then with a sawing motion. The thick spine also gives good chopping power and the blade terminates into a wicked thrusting point. The seax was so widely used that even the Anglo-Saxons had their tribal name derived from it.

This fighting seax from Kris Cutlery has a blade made from high carbon steel. A weight-reducing fuller runs the length of the blade and it is pinned into the handle with a bamboo peg. The scabbard and handle are crafted from unstained wood.

While a functional blade, caution is advised using this sword as the hand could slip onto the sharp blade after an impact or following a thrust as there is no crossguard. This sword comes with a black cloth sword bag.
