This late 16th Century German Cavalry Sword has a wide cutting blade to deliver grievous cuts from horseback, whilst being tapered enough to as to allow for a decisive thrust. A sword such as this could simply be held outward as the mounted soldier passed his opponent and the momentum of his mount and the geometry of the blade would ensure a fatal skewering of the foe - no need in such an instance for fancy swordwork. Just timed skill and precise control of the horse. This German Cavalry sword was crafted by Lutel of the Czech Republic. It has a sharp blade of high carbon steel. The crossguard and pommel are of darkened steel and the grip is tightly wrapped with form-fitted brown leather. Comes with a brown leather scabbard with a sword baldric. The adjustable, buckled baldric can be attached, removed, or adjusted to size with the metal buckles on the sword scabbard. The throat and chape pieces are of darkened steel. |
