The Bohemond Medieval sword was hand forged by Wulflund in the Czech Republic; the blade is of 14260 CSN high carbon steel that was imbued with a hardness of 50-52 HRC after tempering. The crossguard and pommel are of steel and like the blade, are hand-forged; they are left in rough-polished state to give the hilt an amplified, forge-worked appearance - or to give it an antiqued appearance. The pommel and guard have been welded to the tang to make the fittings completely secure - a large peen on on the pommel only adds to this innate durability. The thick tang is overlaid with supple black leather for a grip - the bottom half of the waisted grip is further wrapped with twisted steel wire.

The Bohemond is a lively and dextrous sword thanks to its tapered blade profile and large counter-weighted pommel. It feels quite light in the hand and fast on the strike as its center of balance is a mere quarter-inch above the pommel, putting a pivoting center of balance right alongside the wielder’s hand.

With a thick tang and welded furniture this sword is quite durable and its fittings are strongly secured into place and highly resistant to loosening over time. Being a handcrafted European sword made in Europe itself, the strikes from the smith’s hammer can be seen by a close eye.

If you intend to use this sword for cutting, then we recommend you opt for our sharpening service to impart a sharper secondary bevel to the edge.

The color tone of the leather used on the brown grip versions of this sword can vary from light brown to very dark brown.

A scabbard is available separately for this sword. A picture link to it is to under the sword photos in the ''also available'' section.
