The Matteo is a hand-forged Renaissance Hand and a Half sword crafted in the Czech Republic from Wulflund. Built for stage and sport combat, the sword has blunt edges at least 2 mm thick and a reinforced hilt. The blade is 14260 CSN high carbon steel tempered to a hardness of 50-52 HRC. The hand forged complex guard and pommel are steel and the grip was wrapped over with brown leather.

The pommel and guard of the Matteo are welded to the thick blade tang to give a strong bonding of the furniture to the tang and make them unlikely to shift with use. Also, the tang was given a large peen on the pommel to further solidify the hilt components into place.

Though it has a thick blade and solid construction, this sword is still quite manageable; the large pommel acts as a counter-weight to the blade to give it a natural center of balance pivot near to the guard. This, coupled with the long grip for leverage for the second hand, make this sword surprisingly agile for a thick-bladed sport and stage combat weapon.

Please Note: The grip color and the type of leather grip wrap used on this sword can vary – grip colors can vary from brown to black. There may also be variations in hilt style or grip length.

Good, well balanced but to flexibel. Hi, I`m in a German HEMA club. This beatiful sword schould be my next main sword for the Battles. But it turns out, that the blade is too flexibel. The Blade thickness is on max. 3mm thick.
On purpose i took a false swing with the flat side of the sword and it got a huge bend on the blade near the handel. The bend is easaly fixed with you hands but this is not supposed to be, by an Stage Combat sword.

My actual 150$ sword has more stiffnes in its blade.

This thickness together witch the notch in teh middle of the blade, makes it very instabel. You can hit the Grib of the sword and the blade starts vibrating for 6 seconds. On my aktual sword the blade only vibrates 3 seconds.

The good point about this sword is, that the balance point is just perfectly in the middle of the crossguard. ( 1cm in front of crossguard)

At least, if you wanna look cool on medival Markets and fight sofly, like the on Rulement Belly it is a fine Sword.
