This Arming Sword was crafted by USA swordsmith Stephan Lockwood; it has a sharpened and tempered blade of 6150 high carbon steel. The blade was tempered to a hardness of 52 - 53 HRC. The guard and pommel are cast steel and the tang has been solidly peened over the pommel for a secure hilt construction. The wooden grip of poplar is wrapped in tightly fitted leather.

With a stiffened and sharply tapered blade with a diamond cross section, this arming sword is purpose-built for defeating well-armored opponents; combatants who would be the peers of the well-equipped, professional man-at-arms, knight or nobleman of the 14th or early 15th century. An acute, diamond point such as this is idea for slipping in between armor plates, puncturing weak or thinner segments of armor and splitting chainmail links.

The wide base of the blade not only strengthens the blade, but it brings the point of balance closer to the hilt - this eases tip control for the wielder when aiming the thrust. The thick base also gives plenty of ‘’meat’’ for the off-hand to grip should the blade be carefully used in the ‘’half-swording’’ technique to deliver a particularly accurate and penetrating thrust.

Though this sword style is optimized for thrust-oriented, late-Medieval swordfighting techniques, the blade remains wide enough in its main cutting portion to deliver significant cuts and slashes.
