Northern Filipino Golok

$260.00$289.99

This blade, hailing from the mountain landscapes of the Cordillera Mountains of the Northern Philippines is a brutal sword used by the tribes of the region, including the Igorot headhunters!

Although machete-like in form, the Golok is a sword of war that strikes with ferocious chopping power. It was, and is still sometimes used to behead criminals – a task for which it is eminently suited.

The blade of this Philippine-crafted Northern Golok is of sharp 5160/D2 high carbon steel tempered to HRC 58-60. The short guard and elongated ferrule are of darkened steel. The grip is of carved wood partially overlaid with rattan. A carved wooden scabbard with decorative rattan is included.

Please Note: Due to being crafted in a tropical environment with native woods, it is common for these weapons to develop thin, minor cracks in the wood and the scabbard as the woods adjust to our more temperate environment. Cracks in items sent to you will not be harmful to the structural integrity of the item. Also – The decorative rattan wrapping can be brittle and may crack or break.

It is recommended that a light coating of protective oil is used to protect the wood from dryness and cracking.
Please Note: Our latest shipment of this sword no longer has any rattan wrapping on the scabbard. It is omitted.
