This Indonesian Karambit is a compact and deadly self defense weapon. The blade is 5160 / D2 high carbon steel with a keen edge. Two halves of polished wood which are dual riveted to create the grip give this fighting knife true full tang construction. Included is a scabbard which is skillfully carved from wood.

The Korambit likely hails from West Sumatra and its name can be translated to mean ‘’Tiger Claw’’ - a particularly fitting name for the shape and viciousness of this small dagger. Easily concealed it can be drawn quickly and its hook like blade both pierces and slashes with great ability. The jagged edges of the spine on this example are designed to catch the body or clothing for joint manipulation techniques. The finger ring makes disarming the dagger from you very difficult and it can also be used as a powerful knuckle striker when the Karambit is used in the ‘’hook down’’ position. This knife is still extensively used in Southeast Asian and Filipino martial arts and the ease with which it can be carried at all times make it a worthy self defense tool for study.

Please Note: Due to being crafted in a tropical environment with native woods, it is common for these weapons to develop thin, minor cracks in the wood and the scabbard as the woods adjust to our more temperate environment. Cracks in items sent to you will not be harmful to the structural integrity of the item. Also - The decorative rattan wrapping can be brittle and may crack or break.
It is recommended that a light coating of protective oil is used to protect the wood from dryness and cracking.
