French Model 1961 Dress Sword – Universal Swords

$176.80$208.00

This modern Model 1961 French parade sword hearkens back to the days of Napoleons heavy cavalry with its straight blade and multi-bar hilt. Though similar in form to the heavy cavalry sabers of old this sword has modern practicalities in mind, for it is substantially smaller and lighter than the 19th century Heavy Cavalry swords. At the hip of the modern French officer, this sword embodies the vast weight of Frances martial past.

This recreation of the Model 1961 has an unsharpened, tempered blade of high carbon steel. Inscribed onto its spine is the script Sabre Droit DOfficier M. 1961 The hilt is of brass. Unlike the original swords, the Model 1961 had a grip crafted from a glossy, black, plastic-like polymer. This is replicated here on this recreation. The scabbard is of steel with a steel hanging ring.
