1815 French Officer’s Saber – Universal Swords

(1 customer review)

$168.95$288.00

This Napoleonic French Officers Saber has a blade forged from 1055 high carbon steel and it is mounted into a hilt of ornately cast brass with an inset leather washer to cushion the top of the guard from impact and scratching against the scabbard. The blade has a long, weight-reducing fuller and a stout reinforcing spine. The wooden grip is overlaid in black leather and bound with twisted brass wire.

The saber has a companion scabbard crafted from steel with a pair of steel hanging rings.

Unlike the rank-and-file of the Grande Arm, the officers were allowed to purchase their own swords and, predictably, most took the opportunity to commission beautiful and ornate sabers to distinguish themselves from the men under their command. This sword is based on a surviving example of one of these elegant and capable sabers.

  1. Braavoss

Looks good, Too heavy The saber itself looks great, the scabbard not so much. It is incredibly heavy for a saber and would be impractical.
