This early 14th Century Bascinet is reproduced from the helm seen on the bronze Robert the Bruce statue at Bannockburn battle site. This Kingly bascinet is embellished with an intricately detailed royal crown of brass which is riveted to a bascinet of 18 gauge steel. An aventail of butted chainmail is sturdily stitched to a leather band and laced onto the brass anchoring points at the nape of the helm. Lacing or unlacing this band allows for the aventail to be removed or added as needed.

The helm is fitted on the inside with an internal suspension liner of leather which can be adjusted. An adjustable chinstrap of leather with an antiqued brass buckle completes this bascinet.

Please Note: You may find that you need to bend open the frontal base of the helmet near the cheeks to fit it on a head as this helmet is designed to fit closely to the head.
