This throwing Tomahawk has an axehead of high carbon steel with a blackened, rough-forged finish. It is fitted to a haft of hardwood. The shaft has a teardrop-shaped cross section - a form that easily allows the wielder to intuitively discern the edge alignment of the axehead by feel alone.

The tomahawk is a design with three origins that came together North America to make an axe suited to the frontier; the stone axes of the Native Americans, the throwing axes of the French frontiersmen, and the boarding axes of the Royal Navy. All frontiersmen needed a good axe and many early traders made a lucrative enterprise trading metal-headed tomahawks to the Native Americans who had an understandably insatiable demand to replace their stone axes for iron and steel.

With a bit of practice a thrown tomahawk becomes a very deadly weapon - the concussive and cutting force of a thrown axe is considerable and will lay low any foe. Easily transportable and with multiple uses, the tomahawk was a great companion for the frontiersman.

Please Note: The factory edge of these axehead blades varies from somewhat dull to slightly sharp - most are moderately sharp. Please select our sharpening option if you desire a sharp edge
