This statue depicts Augustus Caesar, Adopted by his Great Uncle Julius Caesar to become the first Emperor of Rome. The original of this statue was made of bronze and was voted to Caesar by the Roman Senate in 20 BC. The original bronze has been lost to time, but a later period marble copy survives and is displayed at the Vatican. This reproduction is cast in resin and finished in a metalic bronze, giving the look and feel of aged bronze.
