The Scythians, were a fierce nomadic culture who inhabited the northern steppes of the Black Sea during the early Iron Age. Their early adoption of horse archer battle tactics helped them to defeat many of their powerful contemporaries such Assyria, Urartu, Babylonia, Media and Persia. This Scythian style axe features a copper axe head with a griffin head design mounted on a hardwood shaft with copper nails and a leather and wire wrapped grip.
