Albion Steward Medieval War Sword

The hilt of this sword was inspired by an original found hidden inside a wall in a medieval-era home in Linz, Austria, dated from the early to mid 14th century. The original sword is pictured as XIIIa.5 in Ewart Oakeshott's Records of the Medieval Sword. To make it even more of a classic XIIIa warsword, Albion has added a rivet block and lengthened the grip. The grip has eight planes and 2 risers in the middle as a support for the hand. Mounted in a hilt with a long grip like this, the blade becomes very agile and quick, yet capable of delivering devastating cutting blows.
The Albion Steward Medieval War Sword features a sharpened 1075 carbon steel blade heat-treated to a fine temper in the Albion Forge Shop. The grip is of stabilized birch, wrapped with cord and covered with the highest grade vegetable-tanned calfskin. The guard and pommel are solid steel.
