The Roman Pompeii Style Gladius was the first major design change made to the Roman short sword. Emphasizing the Roman tactic of the thrust rather then the cut. Although still capable of delivering cutting blows, the Pompeii style is designed to provide the maximum penetration in the thrust. Using this technique the Roman Legions dispatched their enemies quickly and efficiently.
