The ancient Korean sword had a long straight blade that was well developed by 700 A.D. and probably influenced the development of the early Japanese swords. The Kris Cutlery Korean Sword features a sharpened carbon steel blade. The blade is 7-7.5 mm thick near the base and gradually tapers to 3mm near the point. This gives the sword a good balance in use. An iron habaki is at the base of the blade followed by a mokko (four lobes) style blackened iron guard. The hardwood handle has a straight wrap of brown flat cord with black iron fuchi & kashira. A bamboo peg secures the removable handle on the tang.
At the mouth of the scabbard is a black iron band and right below it is a black iron hanger. The light color hardwood scabbard has a black iron butt at the bottom.
