This Medieval eating knife may lack embellishment, but it is crafted with the attention to quality needed for a lifetime of practical and dedicated use. A simple steel knife with wood scales riveted to the thick tang for a grip, this replica knife is an excellent representative for the knives used by peasants and lower status people of the 13th – 15th centuries.

The blade is sharpened EN45 high carbon steel and the grip scales are well carved for a fine fit and completed with a smooth polish. Included is a stitched sheath of brown leather with decoative leatherwork accenting.

The knife is of a good design and fits the hand well. It also has good distal taper. However the steel is soft. The blade came bent and I was able to bend it back straight in my hand. It will work as an eating utensils, but I would not trust it for more than cutting meat and vegetables. My normal eating knives bought at Wal-Mart are made of harder steel.
