This large dagger makes a fine matched companion piece to the Balaur Arms Italian Longsword, but it also is a fine dagger of war on its own! This sword-hilted dagger has the enlarged proportions that make it a ready sidearm for the campaign and battlefield; the blade is broad and robust to allow it to competitively entangle with larger weapons and is long enough to give its bearer the edge in a grappling scrum with a foe. The blade has a hollow-ground cross section which reduces unneeded weight and its raised central ridge gives it excellent stiffness and rigidity to ensure that it strikes home with optimized puncturing potential.
The crossguard imparts substantial protection to the hand and the pommel is essentially a flanged mace in form; the better to strike a rattling concussive blow with! These components are fashioned from steel and the grip is wood with a tight wrap of leather. The dagger is matched with a wooden scabbard which is sheathed in leather and completed with a protective steel chape.

Excellent quality, no complaints. I ordered this and the 15-century arming sword by Balaur arms, and both with the sharpening service. These are now the nicest two items in my relatively new collection. I plan to collect the rest over the years, and the sharpening service was definitely worth the extra cost and wait.
