The Koshi Sori O Kissaki Katana from BattleBlades is a particularly beautiful Katana that is built for serious, heavy cutting with its blade exhibiting excellent sori curvature and a solid spine to ensure it strikes with mass, velocity and ferocity. The blade is forged from 1095 high carbon steel which has been clay-tempered in the traditional manner to imbue it with a hardened edge and a genuine hamon in the Sanbon-suki style. The enlarged and elongated O-Kissaki tip and prominent Shinogi-zukuri blade geometry further emphasize its intention as a powerful cutting Shinken. The blade was finished with a gleaming high quality polish.
The hilt of the sword is centered around a tsuka grip of hardwood which is fitted with blackened genuine rayskin and bound in premium cotton ito wrapped in the katatemaki style. The tsuba, fuchi and kashira components have detailing picked out in bold silver and gold hue detailing. The seppa and habaki are cast from brass. The sword is matched with a handcrafted hardwood saya with a fine polish and finishing gloss. It has been partially inlaid with rayskin which had its crevices filled with layered black lacquer which was then polished flush with the rayskin to create a brilliantly accented finish of excellent quality and craftsmanship. The koiguchi, kurikata and kojiri fittings are crafted from well-polished buffalo horn and a finely knotted premium sageo cord completes the saya and sword.
Included is a silk sword bag and a manufacturer’s production certificate.
Handmade brown hardwood Saya is partially covered with white stingray skin and has been treated with 4 layers of lacquer to highlight the wood’s beautiful grains. Polished genuine black buffalo horn koiguchi, kurikata and kojiri with premium grade sageo concludes the whole.
