The Polish Mace is crafted from 1055 high carbon steel with a deep blued finish. Like many historical maces it is constructed with a hollow shaft with thick walls to reduce unnecessary weight.

Simple and stout, maces of this type were easily worn and well-capable of bluntly defeating any opponent. Even the most splendidly well-armored of foes could be reliably bludgeoned by the great concussive power of the mace head. Though it would not rend and split apart his armor, it would surely batter the man within with forceful concussive blows that would surely debilitate even the stoutest of combatants.

Cold Steels Polish Mace is surprisingly lightweight and robust. It is easily used single-handedly and is a fitting pair to a shield-bearing man-at-arms defending a breach in a fortification in a close scrum. Its durable construction and unobtrusive design make it a excellent candidate for a sidearm, for there is little worry of the weapon structurally failing under stress. It is a comforting thought to have such a mace after having a sword or polearm break in battle.

Please Note: While all-steel maces are sturdy they are not indestructible. They were designed for striking targets softer and less dense than the mace – namely warriors wearing steel armor which was considerably thinner than the mace flanges. Bashing a steel mace onto concrete roads, dense trees and wood beams, cinder blocks, I-beams and other hard or dense targets may result in bending the steel mace, damaging its flanges or causing other damage.

Almost perfect. I have been looking for a simply designed, spherical head mace for a good while. There are a number of flanged and spiked variants commonly available through several online vendors, but this specific type remained elusive. Once again, Kult of Athena didn’t disappoint in offering something uncommon at a very reasonable price.

I love how this mace is designed, in that it’s a no nonsense, battle ready piece fully able to send a coconut flying into pieces with one solid stroke. (I would have posted a video were I able to prop my phone at the correct height and angle, but take my word for it.) This is meant to be a “light” mace which is designed to focus the impact more on sheer momentum rather than rely upon weight, alone. Although in those terms, I would surmise that it likely falls somewhere between the “light” and “heavy” categories based on a size-to-weight ratio.

As much as I do love this thing, I would like to see Cold Steel offer a longer version within the range of 24 to 26 inches. Or perhaps a heavier, two-handed variant. After use and handling, I would recommend wiping your fingerprints from the handle and shaft before placing it in storage. A microfiber eyeglass cloth works well, and taking this action, along with putting a coat of sword oil on it periodically will help keep the mace rust free.

Extremely strong and pleasant to hold. Has just the right amount of heft. Feels great to swing around and some brutal testing on a block of lignum vitae only left it with some minor denting and bending. Handle is a bit slippery at times but never slid out of my hands.
