Lord of Battles – Damascus Indian Dagger 1

Additional information

With a blade of damascus steel and a hilt and scabbard emblazoned with intricate silver inlay set with the koftgari technique, this dagger from India is a compact testament to the traditional bladesmithing arts of India. The damascus blade is forged from two different steels melded together into a single blade and finished with a inlaid silver emblem incised into the blade on a single side.

The steel hilt is deeply blued to blacken the steel and then lavishly embellished with hand-set silver. The blade is set into the hilt by filling the hilt with a hardened resin which firmly anchors the blade into the hilt. This is a traditional way of marrying tang and hilt together for many Indian bladed weapons. The sheath is steel and finished to match the hilt; it is lined on the inside with panels of velvet to prevent the blade from being scratched when unsheathed.
