Although iron was a tougher material than bronze it would frequently bend. Damascus, or pattern welded steel, was used to make the blade strong enough to withstand the rigors of combat. Early Viking swords were forged from layers of iron interwoven with strands of steel to produce a very tough sword. This sword is based on an original circa 850-900 AD sword discovered in Finland. The Damascus Viking Sword is made of high carbon Damascus steel. The blade is polished with the fuller acid etched to bring out the beautiful Damascus pattern. The pommel and crossguard are made of solid steel and the grip is leather wrapped wood. Includes a matching wood scabbard with a black leather covering and steel mounts. A very nice example of a true Viking sword.

Great Looking Sword Overall this is a very nice sword. The damascus pattern in the fuller is very attractive, as well as the overall look. It is well made and has a good feel. The POB could be about an inch further back, but the sword still handles well and is quick. The grip is comfortable for me with a hammer grip and still works for me with a handshake grip (I have average sized hands). KOA put a nice edge on the blade, that I cleaned up with 1000 grit sandpaper. There is a little more flex in the blade than I expected but overall this is a great sword.

Not for the big handed, like most windlass Viking swords This sword is cool, nice to look at and that’s about it. I bought this when I went thru a “everything must be Damascus” phase.
It is well built with the peened tang over the pommel. This sword is nice, but for that one flaw, the small claustrophobic grip. Other than that, it’s a nice sword with a good balance and a decent scabbard to boot.
I really miss the brick and mortar store, it was nice to be able to handle and hold an item before buying it and without the pain in the ass returns on most sites (not this one, this one’s great)

Overall, it is a nice spring tempered steel that will hold it’s shape thru proof tests.
A cool sword to have. A nice wall hanger. 7/10

A well-made sword, although the grip is too small. The pommel cuts into my wrist when I try to swing it. I eventually got rid of it and plan to replace it with one that has a larger/better shaped hilt. I wish they would put that blade on the Suontaka or Leif Erikson style hilt.
