This mail coif is crafted from rings of aluminum; a material that makes for a considerably lightweight coif – a good choice for those who want less weight bearing on their head for a long day of reenactment, costume or faire. For a more authentic look many of the mail rings are dome riveted, not butted and they are alternated with flat solid rings to keep the cost of this armor piece down by removing much of the riveting-labor time.
The rings are 10 mm in diameter and 16 gauge in thickness.

Thick rings… I do not own this(yet), but have tried one on. The rings are quite thick, so it will increase the circumference of your head. Especially so if you wear even a thin arming cap underneath.(Which is all you really need.) Keep this in mind with the INTERNAL circumference of any helm you might want to wear with this coif. Overall, well made and sooo light compared to a steel coif. McM

SNC361N Definitely not a one size fits all kind of item, but since it is for a costume and not planning to wear it hooded… it will do.
