Additional information
This sword is based on an English style from the mid 15th century. The short light design of this weapon made it a good side arm for the English Longbowman.
The Del Tin 15th Century Infantry Sword features a single edge blade tapering to a point with a shallow fuller at the back edge. The guard and pommel are steel while the grip is wood with dark brown leather wrap. The unsharpened blade is made of well tempered Chrome-Vanadium steel with a hardness of 50HRC and is peened to the pommel for durability.
Michael Smith –
Handy Little sword of classic Del Tin construction I’ve admired the original of this sword for a long time. I’ve occasionally seen replicas, but it had never bubbled up on want list. When I saw that Del Tin had a really nice replica, I was smitten, and when I saw that it was in-stock, I got it! It’s a pretty good replica of the original, and it is of classic Del Tin construction. The blade is sturdy, with a great shape and and the hilt is an excellent representation of the type, managing an organic, forged look, despite being cast. The hilt is solid, with no loose components or rattling. The grip is not beautiful, but comfortable. Overall finish is consistent with a fighting man’s sword. Well-shaped and well-construction, but but with a no-nonsense finish. The KoA sharperning service put a good, servicable edge on the sword, and I can’t wait to unleash it on some bottle and mats! It’s relatively light and agile…. I can imagine this would make a great sword and buckler weapon when traveling.
