This Close Helm is crafted from 16 gauge steel; it is well-articulated with a pivoting visor and the articulated neck plates which keep the helm from obstructing the movement of the head and neck. The entire face of the helm can be swiveled upward to allow it to be easily fitted to the head. The interior of the helm is both blackened and un-lined.
A product of the late Medieval and early Renaissance, the Close Helm shares an appearance that is, at a glance, quite similar to the Armet. The notable difference between the two is that the front half of the Armet opens laterally when fitting it to the head, whereas the front half of the close-helm opens vertically.
