The Club Series HEMA sword line exclusively available at Kult Of Athena is developed by Krieger Armory which features an innovative approach to sword design and manufacturing with an aim for durability and robust construction. The entire hilt assembly is hammered together using steel pins. This unique method of manufacturing paired alongside the appropriately tapered – double tempered 1075 steel blade creates an effective training sword for new and veteran HEMA practitioners alike.

The Club Series is a ready-to-go steel HEMA trainer that will get you training safely and quickly. The classically tapered blade along its width provides a very similar feel to a traditionally crafted sword but with an added element, namely that the sword is designed to reinforce good habits and make it feel obvious when the blade is not properly aligned.

Following standards of design and implementation that Krieger Armory are known for, you can expect nothing less with your Club Series purchase. As is the blade, the crossguard is also made of hardened and tempered 1075 steel. The grip is carefully shaped to provide clear indexing and is comfortably waisted and tapered. The natural cord wrap is soaked with two coats of epoxy resin/hardener that creates a noticeable grippy texture, and aids in longevity of the wrap.

We chose to call this line The Club Series for a few reasons.

We see a gap in the needs available to HEMA schools. It is the transition from a synthetic trainer to a steel competition sword. Synthetics are fantastic and we are fans of them because they offer such a great value and are an excellent stepping off point. However, they naturally lack the feeling of a steel sword. Our Club Series of swords aims to serve as another affordable option of a practitioner’s first training sword to be paired with appropriate protective equipment, as well as for schools to have several of them in their club, with the added durability benefits related to their robust and non typical hilt construction.

We also intended to make a sword that naturally reinforces good sword fighting mechanics. The apparent width and visual profile of the blade routinely encourages you to index your edge towards your opponent during cutting actions. If your edge is not aligned during your strike, the lack of edge alignment can be felt very clearly. These positive habits are aided in relationship with our ergonomically sound grip. It allows you to have a positive grip and a good sense of edge awareness . The blade geometry can provide you some advantages in binds, however the flats have quite a bit of flex and thrust safety intentionally built in. We crafted these swords to be a go-to option for HEMA club organizers to loan out to their bright eyed students and can also be used by instructors during demonstrations or as an excellent steel training sword for the individual.

We wish to serve the HEMA community and hope that you will love these swords as much as we do!

This sword feels great to spar with and it flexes pretty well as shown in the KOA video about this and the club longsword by Krieger.

It also feels solidly built and the handling is pretty nimble.

The only thing I don’t particularly like is the squareness of the grip. It’s more of a personal preference thing.

I will also say, the grip is a little ugly but does the job well. I think the blue improves upon the ugliness of it a little compared to the brown.

It’s a great sword for the purpose of sparring and whatnot.

      I recommend this one!
