The Punyal is commonly worn at all times by men of the Southern Philippines and is regarded as one of the weapons of the Moro Lands. The blade of a Punyal can be straight, or, as seen in this example, wavy-bladed like the Kris. It has a blade of 5160 / D2 high carbon steel which has been honed to a keen edge. The blade is sturdily mounted into a hilt of stainless steel and polished hardwood. Included is a wooden scabbard with stainless steel fittings.
Typically worn tucked into a sash, the Punyal is a handy self defense weapon which is always near its bearer. Many who wear the Punyal will also use it as a convenient utility knife as needed. A favored weapon of the Kuntao warriors, the Punyal is also a deadly weapon of war when in skilled and quick hands.
