This recreation of a Sheffield Trade Knife is based upon examples from the 18th and 19th century. Millions of these knives were made in England and exported to the US and these knives were both a common utilitarian tool for frontier folk and a prized item used in trade with Native Americans. The design of the knife lends itself well for camp, cooking, daily chores and self defense and these knives were a common sight in both civilian and military environments.

This recreation has a blade of high carbon steel and its grip has a sturdy full tang construction created by steel-riveting its two halves of wood directly onto a thick blade tang. Included is a sheath of stitched leather with an integrated belt loop and leather retaining cords. A variety of dyed colors are available as well as a plain leather version which can be oiled for a natural finish or dyed to your own preferred color.
