The Valiant Armoury Craftsman Series Malatesta is based on a design from framed swordsmith Christian Fletcher and the design seamlessly melds graceful proportions with fine-tuned performance and a lively balance. The blade is 6150 high carbon steel which was twice-normalized to refine its internal grain structure and to create optimal conditions for superior tempering when the blade was heat treated. The sharpened edges have appleseed edge geometry to fortify the blade edges and make them more resistant to damage over a simpler flat-grind edge.

The crossguard and pommel are fashioned from mild steel and the hardwood grip is wrapped in tightly-fitted leather of premium quality. A hot-peen pommel assembly gives the sword an overall robust construction. The sword is matched with a high quality wood-core scabbard which is bound in quality leather and matched with adjustable hangers and a buckled sword belt of durable leather for a complete package.

PLEASE NOTE: The shape of the scabbard chape is different than pictured now due to a change from the manufacturer. The shape is now a simpler form which clads the sides of the scabbard in steel and leaves the front and back open. Photos will be updated when possible.

The weapon itself is one of the most beautiful sword I have ever seen. The blade is type XVIA blade and is expertly made and very sharp. The cross guard has little opening and the sword hilt is tightly wrap. Best part of the sword is the peened pommel. The pommel itself is a faceted type allowing for a great grip and would also be very effective at bashing armor or cracking skulls with the mordhua grip. If I had to say a con for this sword is that this long sword is more of a Bastard/Hand and a half sword but other than that this sword is great. The Malatesta is 100% worth the buy IF you have the great amount cash to spend and is willing to wait for the process of it being made.
