The Hallstatt swords of bronze and iron date from the beginning of the iron age – a time parallel to the beginning of a distinct, Celtic culture. Found in the graves of Lake Hallstatt in Austria, many of these leaf-bladed swords have been found, revealing the artistry, metallurgical craftsmanship and warlike nature of the early Celts. The leaf-shape of their blade is designed to shift weight and balance to the tip, where the concentration of mass would maximize the chopping force of the sword.

This Hallstatt period sword from the Czech Republic is inspired by the ancient tomb finds,. It is a sword is intended for stage combat, as it has a high carbon steel blade that is blunt, thick and durable. It is peened to its steel hilt for strength. The guard and grip are made from antiqued steel, as is the separate pommel. The blade also has the characteristic guard rivets that Celtic blades of this period sported.

Please Note: Hand-forged item, dimensions my vary.
