The Cold Steel Medieval Spear has a spearhead crafted from 1055 high carbon steel. The edge is sharpened and is moderately sharp. The shaft is of stained ash wood. The spear is shipped unassembled to lower shipping cost. Mounting hardware (small screws) is not included.

A simple and true design, spears such as this were used throughout the entirety of the medieval period – the thick ridged spine not only imparts durability, but it stiffens the center of the spear which helps to direct the maximum amount of force into the target.

Please Note: Our photos show an approximation of the completed weapon – we did not screw the head to the pole, this is why the screws are not present in the photos. Also poles may have slight bends or warps, however, we inspect them to try and pick the best ones available.

Very nice spear! The first of cold steels new spears I bought, was the lance point spear, and being extremely satisfied with that, bought the European spear.. I was not disappointed at all, nice straight ash staff, with a good feel to it, not too thin or too thick. The socket was lined with packing grease, and had to be cleaned prior to assembly. I used epoxy in addition to the provided screws.

I wanted the edges sharper, and this is where it got difficult.. the blade of the spear it reinforced with a very thick spine.. making it very strong for thrusting, but almost impossible to put a cutting edge on.. I know I am being picky here as it’s not meant to be a cutting weapon.. I just wanted my cake and eat it too…lol

Quite the All Around Spear I absolutely love this spear, it’s blade comes sharp, pointed and ready for combat. The screws included make the head fit to the shaft like a glove. The head is strong, hard, yet enough flex for any type of attacks. Its balance makes it a great thrower, its construction makes it as safe a spear to be on the front lines with it’s perfectly shaped socket. Add a small butt cap or knob and you’re ready for any fight, though the long socket and screw placement would prevent it being cut off its shaft in those situations. Make sure to follow instructions for the screws, they should go in on an angle for best retention and be flush with the socket. I would also recommend a small simple mace head for a butt knob. Or a Greek spear buttcap, but is not 100% necessary, this spear rules. Works in any period or area. You’ll love it.

It’d come separated head withouth screws (I’d proper screws (1 pound at least (some hundred), blackened too:))). The before mentioned problem was not alone because the head and shaft connection was lazzy for my taste. I’d cured with PUR foam. After that the result was impressive, balanced and beautiful piece of art! Some of the fellow buyers complained about that it isn’t razor sharp…it’s perfectly sharp enough, spears were never razor sharp (sharper than the usual kitchen knives 99%). I’m absolutely satisfied. Only 4 star because of the screws….you own me 2:))))
