This Bollock Dagger from Tod Cutler has been dubbed the very Rude Bollock Dagger – for obvious reasons! Medieval humor could be rather on-the-nose in many cases and this dagger from Tod Cutler is a historically inspired recreation of one of the more unique bollock daggers designs that were widespread across Europe from the 13th through the 16th centuries. Known for their distinctive grip shape and straightforward effectiveness, these daggers were worn by soldiers, craftsmen, travelers, and townsfolk alike. This particular example embraces the humor and earthy character sometimes found in medieval objects, giving the piece a bold personality while remaining grounded in historical realities. It makes a memorable addition to any collection of historical weapons or a striking companion piece for reenactment and living history.
The blade measures just over 8 inches and features proportions typical of medieval daggers intended for both practical utility and close-quarters combat. Slim yet sturdy, the blade provides good reach for a compact weapon and tapers toward a fine point suited for thrusting. At 7 oz, the dagger is light and quick in the hand, making it highly responsive during use. The balance is lively and immediate, with the point of balance about 1/2″ inch from the guard, allowing the dagger to move quickly and naturally in the hand. The 4-inch grip provides ample room for a secure hold and reflects the classic bollock dagger form, offering both comfort and control whether used in a forward or reverse grip.
The dagger is accompanied by a high-quality leather sheath crafted from durable vegetable-tanned leather. The sheath features robust stitched construction and a protective brass chape, helping safeguard the blade tip while adding a touch of period-appropriate detail. An integrated belt cord allows the dagger to be conveniently suspended from a belt, making it easy to carry as part of a historical ensemble.
