Not an “entry level” or “beginner” model, it is instead a great value at its price by bringing all-USA sourcing of materials and construction in Castille’s Oregon-based workshop. The flex and durability of the blade makes it eminently suitable for HEMA martial arts students and SCA sport combat alike. The 34″ blade has 3 mm rounded and rebated edges with a spatulated tip and has an F3 level of flexibility (see details below).
- The protective and enveloping guard is made from tough 12 gauge 100 Grade “Domex” alloy steel with robust welded construction. The sword can be dismantled to allow for its components to be replaced as needed.
- Flex (F3)- Medium heavy stiffness, compliant to SCA Rapier and Cut & Thrust calibration. 1″ – 1.5″ drop @ 6 oz. (170 gr.). Recommended flex for SCA Rapier and Cut & Thrust dual duty, WMA and HEMA armored combat.

This sword is wonderfully crafted, strong, feels good in the hand and is a damn good looking blade. Practicing and drilling with it so far has been a treat, and after tipping it, I’ll be extremely happy to spar with it. My only issue with it so far has been the grip, it is slightly rough, but wearing gloves is the easiest solution to that. The guard doesn’t have a rough edge on it, everything feels like there was a definite attention to detail. Castille continues to impress!
